First exhibition coming on August!

My first exhibition is coming on August! The exhibition takes place at Verkaranta, Tampere, Finland and it’s a collabo with another talented Finnish abstract artist Matilda Hytönen, who goes by the name Retee arts.

Me and Matilda have both been doing visual arts on our own since we were kids. However, when we both started studying business after high school, doing arts started to play a smaller role in our lives and focus for both shifted more on finding a career from business. That worked out fine for some time although something important was clearly missing. From my end, that missing thing was a feeling of being content with what I have. While searching for that inner contentment I started to paint again and it didn’t take many brush strokes to realize what I’ve been missing so much.

Creating from nothing, mixing colors, using my body, doing intuitive movements with my brush. I felt like all that helped me to finally see myself, what I want to do and how I want to do. Painting abstract pieces feels like staring myself in the mirror and repeatedly asking myself what’s going on today, how I feel and what am I going to do with all of that. The emotions I have flow into the color palette and it’s in my hands how I deal with that color palette.

The realization of the importance of art in our lives made us name the exhibition Uusi alku (New beginning). It’s about my and Matilda’s focus shift back on art and a realization that we aren’t fully content with our lives until we can express ourself in our own way.
